Need a little beauty routine pick-me-up? Try adding some of these essential oils into the products you already have to give your hair, skin, and body the extra attention it needs.

Hair

Thin: Cinnamon or Peppermint

Normal or Dry: Rosemary

The cinnamon or peppermint oils should be mixed with a carrier liquid like honey or olive oil. Rosemary should be blended with coconut or avocado oil. Apply your substance of choice, depending on your hair type, to your roots and down to your ends in a thick mask.

Skin

Dry: Lavender, Olive, or Coconut

Normal: Sandalwood, Rose, or Patchouli

Oily: Aloe Vera, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, or Geranium

Dilute these oils in a carrier oil before applying them; never put pure oils directly on your skin. Carrier Oils: Macadamia Nut, Kukui Nut, Rosehip, Sweet Almond, and Avocado.

Body

Lotions: Frankincense, Lavender, or Aloe

Exfoliant: Geranium or Sweet Orange

Drop a small amount of oil into your favorite beauty products. They are great to blend into lotions for extra moisture. Citrus oils can create skin irritation when exposed to the sun, so be careful if using them before a pool or beach day. You can purchase roll-on essential oils to act as a perfume if you are sick of your normal scent.

A Tip For The Shower

Put a few drops of lemon eucalyptus essential oil onto your shower floor, and let the hot water run with the shower door closed for a few minutes. Step in, and you’ve created your own mini sauna.

A Tip For An At-Home Manicure

Rub a sweet almond, lavender, tea tree, or coriander oil onto your cuticles to give them some moisture. If you’re going to paint your nails with polish, make sure you rinse the oil off thoroughly beforehand. Lemon adds a lightening effect, so add some lemon juice to the oil for an extra boost of whitening to the nail.
