Häagen-Dazs has finally brought non-dairy ice cream to the market, and vegans everywhere can rejoice! The four sensational flavors include Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle, Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge, Mocha Chocolate Cookie, and Coconut Caramel. However, they do have a longer list of ingredients, including corn syrup, which may still bother health nuts.

Here is the full list of ingredients for each non-dairy flavor:

The Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle: water, sugar, corn syrup, belgian chocolate, cocoa processed with alkali, soy lecithin, pectin, vanilla extract, salt, powdered cane sugar, sunflower oil, salt, sunflower lecithin, soybean oil, coconut oil, and natural flavor.

The Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge: water, corn syrup, sugar, peanuts, peanut oil, coconut oil, pectin, salt, powdered cane sugar, sunflower oil, cocoa, and sunflower lecithin.

The Mocha Chocolate Cookie: water, sugar, corn syrup, belgian chocolate, cocoa processed with alkali, soy lecithin, pectin, coffee, vanilla extract, soybean oil, powdered cane sugar, wheat flour, canola oil, salt, baking soda, coconut oil, and chocolate.

The Coconut Caramel: coconut cream, corn syrup, water, sugar, pectin, brown sugar, water, and salt.

For the past 50 years, Häagen-Dazs has prided themselves on being a company of simplicity. Today, five of their flavors (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, coffee, and green tea) are still only made with a few simple ingredients (cream, milk, sugar, and egg yolks). True, these new non-dairy flavors have a little more going on, but we are happy to see a vegan-friendly, non-dairy option for consumers. The choices out there for those who can’t have dairy are very slim.

These delightful $5.49 pints have been available exclusively at Target since the start of July, and will be rolling out to other stores in early 2018.

Ben & Jerry’s is jumping on the bandwagon as well; they recently added non-dairy flavors like Cherry Garcia, Coconut Seven Layer Bar, Caramel Almond Brittle, Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, PB & Cookies, and Coffee Caramel Fudge.
